Badger Group
Badger (Birmingham & District General Practitioner Emergency Rooms) Group is a social enterprise of local doctors in Birmingham and Solihull. The Badger out of hours co-operative has grown since its launch in 1996. Today Badger has over 230 opted-in GP members in 80+ practices and provides 24/7 message handling, urgent daytime care and GP out of hours for their patients. It also holds contracts for out of hours, acute visiting, urgent care and walk-in services with CCGs in the West Midlands. It has a patient base of 1.2 million.
Badger owns its headquarters premises, with call centre, treatment, training and office facilities and has a strong culture of learning, education and development as an employer of local people. Badger works in partnership with other organisations, including the NHS, commercial and voluntary sectors.
