North Hampshire Urgent Care provides out of hours services for a population of 538,000 residing in North Hampshire, North East Hampshire and Farnham, Surrey Heath and part of East Berkshire, including supporting our local community hospitals.
Additionally it provides Improved Access to Psychological Therapies for North East Hampshire.
North Hampshire Urgent Care was formed by the merger in 2006 of two former co-ops, Hantsdoc and Blackwater Valley Doctors Co-op and is a Community Benefit Society. NHUC now works in partnership with South Central Ambulance service and Partnering Health Ltd to work with the 9 CCGs pan Hampshire to co-design and deliver the IUC model.
NHUC benefits from having strong engagement among the local GPs who still cover 66% of the rota. Nurses make up 20% of the clinical workforce and provide triage and face to face consultations, along with our Pharmacists.
NHUC has 2 bases, one at Frimley Park Hospital and one at Basingtoke and North Hampshire Hospital - both of these OOH services have been rated ‘Good’ by the CQC in 2017, and handles 75,000 patient contacts per annum.
