Mastercall Healthcare (Mastercall) is a not-for-profit organisation, limited by guarantee and is currently commissioned by Stockport & Trafford CCGs to provide their out of hours and a GP led walk-in centre incorporating a practice with a registered list of c2,600 patients. A predominantly suburban area covering a registered patient population across both CCGs of c520,000. Mastercall handles in excess of 76,000 out of hours contacts per annum across Stockport and Trafford from their own ‘state of the art’ premises, computer & telephony infrastructure which is based in Stockport.
In September 2012 Mastercall, in partnership with Healthcare at Home the UK’s largest private provider of home treatment, was commissioned to provide a Community IV Therapy Service across Bury, Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale. The aim of the service is to prevent unnecessary admissions and reduce length of hospital stay by providing IV therapy in a patient’s home or community setting in line with the “Care Closer to Home” Initiative (2008), avoiding hospital acquired infection initiatives and the QUIPP agenda. The success of this service has led to a one year pilot to provide IV treatment at home for Stockport patients commissioned by NHS Stockport CCG.
Mastercall also provides an in hours dental helpline as part of a one year pilot for over 1.9 million patients. Covering Stockport, Trafford, Oldham, Salford, Manchester and Tameside and Glossop this service offers patients emergency dental appointments and in some areas the team manage the allocation list for NHS Dentist registrations.
They are a high performing organisation with a 15 year track record of provision of high quality urgent and unscheduled care. Part of their original contract with the CCGs was to perform to higher than the National Quality Requirements which they consistently achieved.
Mastercall hold a large, highly experienced multi-disciplinary workforce comprising GPs, nurse clinicians, nurse practitioners, minor illness nurses, triage nurses, drivers, call handlers and administrators. They are committed to staff education and development and have achieved Investors in People Silver Status.
Their Minor Illness Course has been accredited by the Liverpool John Moore’s University.
