Delivery of urgent and unscheduled NHS primary healthcare by social enterprise organisations has been a major success over the last 25 years. These organisations provide a range of integrated urgent care services and between them hold contracts for two thirds of the medical out of hours services in England as well as many NHS111, IUC treatment centre and other services.
Urgent Health UK (UHUK) is the trade association providing support to these social enterprise healthcare providers, including quality auditing and benchmarking, national representation, workshops, conferences and information sharing.
The current CEO of UHUK is planning to retire later this year and we are seeking a replacement to develop, with the organisation, a vision and strategy for the coming years.
This is a part time position (0.4-0.5 WTE) offering a competitive package including the opportunity for home-based working without geographical restriction.
We would expect the successful candidate to be educated at least to degree level and have a record of achievement at managing director level in the NHS and/or the private sector and preferably detailed knowledge of the sector in which we operate.
An understanding of and belief in the principles of social enterprise is essential as is hands-on experience of managing the full range of business functions in order to be effective in a small organisation.
You will need to be a highly motivated self-starter with proven ability to create a vision, translate it into an operational plan and deliver the plan, and you must be able to negotiate, influence and enthuse at all levels and across a wide range of organisations and stakeholders.
