FCMS was established in 1994 as part of the original co-op movement. They provide out of hours care for the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre areas, covering a population of 330,000 which includes an integrated streaming service at the front of A&E which has been operational since 2011. The past two years has seen an expansion into the Yorkshire area where FCMS runs an out of hours service, a co-located Urgent Care Centre and a Same Day Health Centre across a further 330,000 population in Doncaster.
FCMS became part of the NHS 111 pilot in the North West in 2011 and provided full blown 111 services until March 21st 2013 and are now part of the North West 111 provision in a subcontract with NWAS.
In 2013 FCMS were commissioned to run a Care Co-ordination Service for the most vulnerable patients in their community. They have been providing Dental Services for over 12 years and have more recently won Pan Lancashire Unscheduled Care Dental Call Handling.
In April 2015 they merged with two other companies that they are part of to provide community diagnostics across the North West and Out of Hours and a Same Day Health Centre in Lancashire North.
This past year FCMS has become the lead provider in a 5 year Urgent Care “direct award” (collaboration not competition) which combines the expertise of four small community providers to supply integrated urgent care across the Fylde Coast in line with national recommendations.
